Yves Saint Laurent Eyeshadow Quints

Oh brave new world that has such eyeshadow in it! Yves Saint Laurent's Ombres 5 Lumieres (5 Colour Harmony for Eyes, $56) are pure luxury: buttery, pigmented, and utterly dreamy.

Their only downfall? Consistency. While #1, 2, 3, and 5 were very impressive, I felt I had to work just a little harder to get the color payoff from #4 Lilac Sky. And the center color of #6 Garden of Eden (which looks, in-pan, like a color I would love) has no pigment to it at all — it's just light green sparkles. While I don't endorse high-end-for-high-end's-sake, if you were thinking about buying five single shadows, spring for one of these instead.

YSL eyeshadow quint palettes: Sahara, Indian Pink, Tawny, Lilac Sky, Riviera, Garden of Eden
